What better venue to honor our new batch of Eagles than the San Diego Air & Space Museum?  The San Diego-Imperial Council held its annual Eagle Recognition Dinner on April 20 and the Balboa Park landmark, where over 130 of the 451 Eagle Scouts from 2009 attended the gala event with their sponsors and parents.

In addition to recognizing our new Eagles for their significant accomplishment, the Council also recognized one special Eagle Scout with a rare and highly significant award.  Tom Emery was presented the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award for exemplary service to Scouting and his chosen field of business.  Tom earned Eagle Scout rank in 1939 and has been a Scouter for over 60 years.  He has made significant contributions to the fine arts and sculpture world, including several murals and paintings, bronze busts of Ronald Reagan and other famous dignitaries, and created the door carvings and stained glass panels at the sanctuary at Mataguay Scout Reservation.
