Eagle Recognition Dinner Needs Sponsors

Mission Statement

The purpose of the San Diego - Imperial Council Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is to support and enlarge the success of the Boy Scout movement and build fellowship among adult Eagles in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ESAA achieves this purpose, by recruiting as many adult Eagle Scouts as possible to become Scouting volunteers, by supporting activities within the Council that promote the Scouts' advancement along the Trail to Eagle and by giving recognition to the young men who earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

ESAA at Scout Fair April 20

Congratulations to the 2012 Eagle Scouts of San Diego-Imperial Council.  This year was our largest flock of Eagles ever, over 560 young men earned the rank.  Each year we recognize this grand accomplishment at our council Eagle Recognition Dinner, to be held on April 16, 2013 at the Admiral Kidd Conference Center in Pt. Loma.  Each scout is treated to a wonderful dinner, guest speakers, displays, and perhaps most important, a chance to be paired with an adult sponsor who shares common interests and acts as host for the new Eagle.

We need your help.  Please register today to be a Sponsor for one of these fine young men.  Check out the information and registration page at www.eaglescoutdinner.com.  Space is limited this year so register early, and you will also be entered for a prize drawing.  See you there!
Please congratulate Judge Robert C. Coates on being recognized as a NESA Distinguished Eagle Scout. His dedication to the community, scouting and his fellow man is an example for us all. We will present his award formally to him at the Eagle Recognition Dinner on April 16, 2013, at the Admiral Kidd Conference Center.
The San Diego-Imperial Council is blessed with a wonderful scholarship program. The Belcher Eagle Scout Scholarship was created by Donald and Marie Belcher for Eagle Scouts who plan to attend a four-year college or university following high school graduation.

The funding for the three available two-year scholarships will be $3,500 for the first year, renewable for a second year, with at least the equivalent of one year of college credits completed and a college grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above, for a total amount of $7,000 to the recipient's college or university.

Applicants who are willing to serve as summer camp counselors will receive special consideration in the selection process.  The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, room, board and books for as long as a recipient remains a full-time student during the life of the scholarship. The funds will be paid directly to the college or university that the recipient attends.

Applications are available now.  Submission deadline is April 30, 2013 and awards will be announced by June 1, 2013.
ESAA News
The ESAA will have its Eagles Nest booth at the Scout Fair again this year.  This is a great opportunity for youth and adult Eagles to stop by, meet fellow Eagles in other troops and around council, and check out the activities we have planned for this year.  The Scout Fair will be held at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday April 20 from 9AM to 3PM.
