John McCutchen, Scoutmaster of the Year
New Scouting Alumni Association
The purpose of the San Diego - Imperial Council Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is to support and enlarge the success of the Boy Scout movement and build fellowship among adult Eagles in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ESAA achieves this purpose, by recruiting as many adult Eagle Scouts as possible to become Scouting volunteers, by supporting activities within the Council that promote the Scouts' advancement along the Trail to Eagle and by giving recognition to the young men who earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Scout Fair in April
The new BSA Scouting Alumni Association welcomes everyone positively and personally impacted by the Boy Scouts of America - former Scouts, family members of Scouts past and present, volunteers past and present, and the millions of Americans who benefit from Scouting in their communities every day-to join today.
By joining the Scouting Alumni Association, you'll stay up to speed on what's happening in Scouting and help youth experience the excitement, challenges, and adventure that Scouting has to offer.
This organization is separate from ESAA and covers all past scouts and leaders nationwide. Go to their website here, to join. Lots of discounts available to members.
Congratulations to John McCutchen, recipient of the 2013 Chuck Smith Scoutmaster of the Year Award. This is a prestigious recognition of an outstanding Scoutmaster in our council who has made significant impact to the youth of his or her troop. John has been Scoutmaster of Troop 685 in the 4S Ranch area of San Diego for over 20 years, and has mentored over 70 scouts to the rank of Eagle in his tenure. He maintains a high quality program at the troop through his adult volunteer team of ASMs and Committee members. John is also active at the council level and helps to build a quality program for all scouts in our council. John received his award at the Council Dinner meeting on February 7, and has been added to our honor roll at Atherton Hall and here.
The Eagle Scout Alumni Association will host an information station again this year at the SDIC Scout Fair,
9 AM - 3 PM at Qualcomm Stadium, Saturday April 26. We encourage all Eagles, freshly fledged or more vintage, to stop by and say hello. There are always great exhibits and activities from all levels of Scouting and it is very inspiring to see our Scouts in action. We hope to see you there!
