Scoutmaster of the Year Nominations
Congrats to Eagle Project Award Recipient
Annual Breakfast Meeting January 2
The purpose of the San Diego - Imperial Council Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is to support and enlarge the success of the Boy Scout movement and build fellowship among adult Eagles in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ESAA achieves this purpose, by recruiting as many adult Eagle Scouts as possible to become Scouting volunteers, by supporting activities within the Council that promote the Scouts' advancement along the Trail to Eagle and by giving recognition to the young men who earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
December 7 Meeting Postponed
The ESAA Annual Business Meeting and Breakfast will be held on Thursday, January 2, at 7:15 am at Atherton Hall, Scout Service Center, 1207 Upas St, San Diego. We will install our 2014 officers and share the triumphs of 2013 and the schedule for the coming year.
We also plan to have the new Council Executive, Tim Thomton, join us to share a few words about the vision for SDIC. We encourage you to come meet Tim as well as to network with your fellow Eagles.
Breakfast will be catered by our own Debbie Lenart. Cost is $5.00 for breakfast, and dues for regular members is still only $20/year. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please congratulate Eagle Scout Yash Huilgol of Troop 667, the first SDIC recipient of the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award. The award was established to recognize valuable service of an exceptional nature by a Scout to a religious institution, a school, community, or other entity. The award recognizes the Scout for his Eagle Scout leadership service project, which is part of the requirements for earning the Eagle Scout Award. Each year, local councils select a council-level winner, and from that pool, each region selects a region-level winner. A national winner is then selected from the four regional finalists.
You can read more about his project here. We encourage all 2013 Eagle Scouts to submit their project for review. Please submit the form to Debbie Lenart at the Council Service Center no later than January 21, 2014 for consideration. Good luck!
The Chuck Smith Scoutmaster of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition of an outstanding Scoutmaster in our council who has made significant impact to the youth of his or her troop. Nominations for the award are being submitted now and through December 31, 2013. See the background page and application forms here.
The annual service project and planning meeting that had been set for December 7 has been postponed. The plan to host a service project at Camp Balboa was found to conflict with an OA gathering and HALTT training planned for the same weekend. Planning for the coming year was completed at the December board meeting held on December 5.
We plan to continue service programs throughout the spring and summer through the Facilities committee and will host our planning meeting and service project at Camp Balboa next November.
